Tarantella had a good start in the Finnish IMS Championships in the first off-shore race. We took the first place in the rather strong winds and heavy offshore conditions, which we use to call real "Tarantella weather".

We had a good start and took the lead already from the very beginning. The first mark Helsinki lighthouse was rounded with a good margin to all our competitors. Tom Finells Fortina Fun rounded here second 12 minutes after us.

The long leg to Uusmadal on the Estonian side was rather tough with winds changing several times up and down from 8 to 24 knots. This meant several genua changes from genua 1 to 2 and 3 and back again in the dark. We also had an incident, when the genua came down due to a broken snap chackle in the halyard. Fortunately we have double halyards, and could continue after a loss of about 5-10 minutes.

At Uusmadal we nevertheless had a clear lead in corrected time. At the reaches and runnings to the finishing line our lead was further increased. At the end the wind fainted away, and we won over Fortina Fun with a margin of 1 h 23 min in corrected time. Charlotta finished third, just slightly behind Fortina Fun.

The regatta continues with several windward-leeward races and an archipelag race on 3 and 4.8.
