The first Baltic Offshore Week regatta was sailed on 23-26.7.2008 in Tallinn, Estonia. The race was a joint offshore championship for Finland and Estonia.

Tarantella finished this time as fourth in the race. We succeeded again in winning the long offshore race, thanks to the rather good winds, but in the windward/leeward races with variable 6 - 8 knots winds we did not succeed in making good speed enough.

Now pictures in our gallery

The winner in ORCi 3 was Astraia with Ilmarinen as second and Xilia as third. Our congratulations! Tom Finell, our hardest competitor over the years finished fifth, which does give us some satisfaction.

In the offshore race we secured our lead over  Astraia, FinnFUN and Xilia on the long tack to Inkoo 2. Here we succeeded in making the same boat speed as the bigger boats, and gained 12 minutes in corrected time. The differfence remained to the finishing line.

In the W/L-races the wind shifted several times in both strength and direction. In particular when the strength falls below about 7 knots our speed  is not good anymore despite of our new big genua. After each tack it takes several minutes to reach the same speed again. Our positions in the three races were 4, 6 and 7. In the coastal race we finished as  5.

The regatta venue was excellent, with everything close. The spectators could follow the race from the quay of Pirita.
