Our final race this year was Syysseilaus on Sunday 14.9. The fight was tough, as 13 boats had signed up in class ORCi3. Tough were also the conditions, with up to 18kn of true wind, which is a bit too much for our G1 (that we managed to damage in one tack as it was perforated by one of the spreaders, see gallery). The wind shifted a lot and also changed in strength, at times hitting down to 10kn true. We opted to go with the G1 as the smaller G2 would have been too small in the shifting wind and quite big seas.

We took the first place with the smallest possible margin. Xilia was the winner in the W/L race with Tarantella second and we were first in the coastal race with Xilia second. We finished with equal points, but the rules say that the better one in the last race is the winner. Thus we also win the ProSailor Ranking.

The first W/L Race started off with a catastrophical start as we missed the bang with over 50 seconds. Luckily all the other boats managed to do more or less the same, so the start wasn't really that bad. Xilia got a good start, followed tightly by the rest of the fleet. The first leg up to the windward mark was quite ok, and we got a nice shift on the left side of the course and managed to round the mark among the first boats, despite our problem with the G1. After that the positions were more or less kept and we finished as the 4th boat after Xilia (a good 3 minutes ahead), FinnFUN and Astraia. This gave us  second place in corrected time.

The 18 nm short course back to Haukilahti started with a good upwind leg to Knapperskär (quite uneventful) and then downwind for about an hour, after which started the long and exhausting tack towards the finishline (see track in gallery). This time we managed to tack a whole lot better than last Sunday (see track of that race in the Henri Lloyd 2008-album ) and finished as 3rd boat in our class, some 9 minutes behind Xilia. Second over the line was FinnFUN and 4th Astraia. Our tight fight with Astraia lasted a very long time, as they first were ahead, then behind, then ahead and so on. Our last tack up towards Varsasaari was quite magnificient, and it was here that we put Astraia behind us. We were first in corrected time with just a small margin to Xilia.
