Next race is IMS Offshore Week in August

Tarantella is now number three in the Vestek IMS Ranking, just 1,4 points behind Fortina FUN and 0,8 points behind Merinna. But we have sailed only two races, while Fortina FUN and Merinna have sailed three. (Tom Finell has announced that his boat wants to be called Fortina FUN, not FiftyFUN, as it has been for some years).

Tarantella has now been loaded with all cruising stuff, and we will be sailing off to the western archipelago for vacation. Next challenge is IMS Offshorfe Week in Helsinki on August 1 - 4, 2007.

So there will be no Round Gotland Race for us this year either. Maybe next year.

We wish everybody a pleasant sailing summer.

Success also in our second race!

Volvo Suursaari Race of 155 nm on June 8 - 10, 2007 was again a success for us, as we renewed our victory from last year. Tom Finell's Fortina Fun got beaten with a silly one minute in corrected time, after having been in the lead with an almost four minutes margin at the last reporting point Hramtsow some 9 miles before finish. Minnamari finished third in the class.

Our new reaching spinnaker from WB-sails performed excellently, and thanks to this we could leave our competitors behind us in tight reaches.

Success in our first race!

Tarantella starts the season with victory in WB Sails Round the Buoys on 3.6.2007 in class IMS3. The race is a windward/leeward race and consists of three separate starts. Tarantella took first place in the first and second starts and second place in the third start. The fight was toughest with Merinna, who finished second. The differences were mostly only seconds. Charlotta was third. Fortina Fun had lost their speed this time, and finished only fifth.

The day was sunny, and the wind light. We are happy with the speed we managed to get in this rather light wind. All our maneuvers were 100%, thanks to our good crew.

Mastjob done!

The mast was raised on Saturday 26.5. Now Tarantella is ready for sailing, but some electrical problems with the genset stopped us from going out yet. But there are still a few days for some training before the first race on 3.6.

See pictures of the mast job in our gallery .

Launch today 24.5, finally!

Tarantella has been all winter dwelling inside in the warm Lindgren's wharf for repair of the damages caused in the collision in Haukilahti last summer, where she got a hole in the side and the navigation table got cracked.

Swan Anniversary Regatta, Final Prizegiving

Nautor's Swan 40:th Anniversary Regatta - prize giving for Regatta Over All winner was held in conjunction with the Helsinki -07 Boat show.

Tarantella II was declared the winner based on the best corrected time per mile in the three races. Senior skipper Heinz (86), who was part of the crew in the race was happy to be present at this honorable event. Read the Regatta story in the Club Swan Magazine here . Pictures from the Over All prize giving in the gallery, under Swan Anniversary Regatta . A video has been created, which can be ordered at the Nautor's home pages.

Senior skipper Heinz sailing in Sardinia

Our Senior skipper Heinz (85), first owner of Swan 36 Tarantella I, had the opportunity to participate in the Rolex Swan Regatta in Sardinia in September -06. He was invited by Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo to participate in the event as a special guest. Tarantella I had been shipped down to sail in the regatta.

Although Heinz was not helmsman in a racing boat, he was steering Swan 68 "Shiraz II" in a good wind watching the races. Also Pekka Koskenkylä, founder of Nautor was on board. The event was spectacular with 2000 participants and over 116 Swans in sizes 36 to 112 feet. See pictures of "Shiraz II" in our Gallery.

Technical problems
Due to severe technical problems at our web-server, some of the pictures in our gallery have disappeared. We will try to restore the gallery as soon as possible, but as the the web master is sailing away in the ARC onboard the Hallberg Rassy 43 "Duo" in just a few days time, it might take as long as until christmas before the restoration will get underway. We appologize. In the meantime, please visit S/Y Duo's web-blog at
Tarantella at Lindgren's yard
Tarantella was taken ashore right after Syysseilaus at Lindgren's yard to undergo further restoration of the damages occured earlier this year when another yacht hit us in the side. The mast is getting its winter rest at NJK, while the Lady spends her winter in a nice and hopefully warm climate at Lindgrens very hospitable yard. Reports on the restoration will follow as soon as we have something to tell. Pictures in the Gallery.

Syysseilaus, last IMS Race 2006
Once again a second place in class IMS 3 - or rather three of them - for Tarantella in today's Syysseilaus. This last ranking race of the season consisted of one W/L-race, followed by an archipelago race. The first race was won by Charlotta and the second by FiftyFUN, who in the over all results suffered from an OCS in the W/L-race, finishing 3rd, but winning the IMS ranking.

Three twos for Tarantella (W/L, Archipelago + Over all) and a fourth second place in the Ranking. Not far behind FiftyFUN! Results for the W/L, Archipelago and Over All. More stories soon and track in the Gallery, but sorry, no pictures this time.
